Empowering Students Through Exploration, Choice and Growth
At St Martins, our Years 7–10 program is grounded in the Australian Curriculum and shaped by our commitment to high-quality, holistic education. We aim to foster a love of learning in a supportive and inclusive environment that values respect, compassion, and the diverse gifts of each young person.
We understand that wellbeing is essential for student learning and growth. Our approach integrates academic challenge with strong pastoral care, supporting students’ social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development. This foundation builds confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills that equip students to thrive in and beyond school.
In Years 7 and 8, students engage in core subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, Christian Studies, Health and Physical Education, and Humanities, with German offered as a language. These early secondary years focus on building essential literacy and numeracy skills while supporting students’ transition into the secondary environment.
Students also explore a wide range of learning areas in The Arts and Technologies through a rotation model. Delivered by specialist teachers, these term- or trimester-long rotations give students the opportunity to discover new interests, express creativity, and build a well-rounded foundation for future learning.
By Years 9 and 10, students begin to shape their own learning pathways by selecting from a broader range of electives. This flexibility enables students to pursue subjects aligned with their interests, strengths, and future aspirations. In Year 10, students commence their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) journey by undertaking Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF), a Stage 1 subject that supports personal reflection and career planning. More information on SACE and EIF is available on the SACE website.
As a Lutheran Christian school, our curriculum is enriched by our faith tradition. Christian Studies, daily devotions, and weekly worship support students’ spiritual growth and contribute to a strong sense of belonging and community.
Beyond the classroom, students can participate in a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, including sports teams, clubs, music ensembles, and specialised programs such as Human Powered Vehicles (HPV). These activities allow students to deepen their learning, discover their passions, and contribute meaningfully to college life.
