Supportive and Personalised Student Wellbeing
At St Martins Lutheran College, we are committed to creating a positive, supportive, and engaging environment where every student is known, valued, and cared for. Our wellbeing system, spanning Year 7 to Year 12, ensures timely and personalised support tailored to each student’s developmental and academic needs. This creates a culture built on care, respect, and resilience.
Our triage approach begins with the homegroup teacher as the first point of contact for parents and carers, offering immediate support and guidance. Wellbeing Leaders provide additional support at each year level, while the Director of Student Wellbeing oversees more complex concerns. Together, this team approach ensures students feel supported at every stage of their journey, fostering hope, connection, and a strong sense of community.
A key element of our wellbeing framework is the daily connection between students and their homegroup teacher. These consistent interactions help build security and a strong sense of belonging. Wellbeing Leaders act as trusted mentors, offering guidance based on a deep understanding of each student’s strengths, challenges, and goals. Through these relationships, students grow in confidence, emotional intelligence, and mutual respect.
Our Approach
- Personalised Support – Every student is known, valued and supported through a structured wellbeing system that responds to individual developmental and academic needs.
- Daily Connection – Homegroup teachers and Wellbeing Leaders build strong, trusting relationships with students through consistent, meaningful interactions each day.
- Collaborative Care – Open communication between families, staff and students ensures concerns are addressed with compassion, strengthening a respectful and inclusive school community.

Building Resilience Through Meaningful Learning and Partnerships
We recognise that wellbeing is essential to academic success and personal growth. That is why we offer a carefully sequenced wellbeing curriculum tailored to each year level. These lessons provide students with the skills and strategies to overcome challenges, build resilience and develop positive relationships. Supported by engaging guest presenters and activities, students are encouraged to believe in themselves and others.
Our wellbeing programs are guided by the Berry Street Education Model, a trauma informed, strength based approach that promotes safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments. This framework ensures every student feels empowered to reach their full potential in a space where they are supported and inspired.
Strong partnerships between families and the College are central to our success. Homegroup teachers, Wellbeing Leaders and the Director of Student Wellbeing work closely with families to ensure open, effective communication. Concerns are handled with care, reinforcing a culture of faith, trust and mutual respect. This collaborative approach strengthens the bond between students, staff and families, ensuring each student is heard, supported and set up for success both personally and academically.

In 2026, the Year 7 students will embark on the two-night UNITE! Adventure Camp at Campaspe Downs in Victoria.
This camp aims to transform our Year 7 students through thrilling outdoor challenges that build the skills that matter most, leadership, communication, resilience, and genuine friendships. The Unite program is delivered by professional instructors with decades of youth development experience, creating breakthrough moments that classroom learning simply can’t replicate. In a world that increasingly values collaboration and emotional intelligence, UNITE! gives your child the transformative experience and life skills they need to thrive.
Year 8 Camp
El Shaddai, SA
The Year 8 camp at El Shaddai, run by Christian Youth Camps SA, provides students with an opportunity to grow physically, socially, and spiritually through outdoor education.
Founded in the values of Faith, Honesty & Integrity, Care & Compassion, and Safety & Quality, the camp encourages students to build resilience, teamwork, and confidence. The program is designed to challenge and inspire students through a variety of high-energy and team-building activities. These include, but are not limited to, canoeing, laser tag, archery, rock climbing, low ropes, and even a reptile encounter.
Through these experiences, students develop resilience, collaboration, and confidence, all while forming deeper connections with peers and stepping away from digital distractions.
Year 9 Camp
The Rite Journey Camp
The Rite Journey is a key element of Year 9 designed to support students as they transition from childhood to healthy, responsible young adulthood. This program is founded on the recognition that modern society has lost many of the traditional rites of passage that once clearly marked the move from childhood to adulthood. In the absence of these, many young people miss important opportunities for growth and reflection.
The Rite Journey seeks to reclaim this developmental milestone by providing intentional experiences that nurture maturity, self-awareness, and purpose. Students are grouped into single-sex classes and work through a series of thoughtfully designed topics. These include exploring identity, building healthy and respectful relationships, clarifying values, imagining future goals, and considering how they can contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
A highlight of the program is the Rite Journey Camp. This experience challenges students both individually and in groups, encouraging them to strengthen peer relationships, develop resilience, and reflect on their personal growth. A significant component of the camp is a solo experience known as The Abyss, where students spend a night alone in a safe, supervised environment. This powerful time of solitude invites personal reflection, courage, and a deeper sense of self.
The Rite Journey serves as an excellent foundation for students as they prepare to enter the Senior School in Year 10, equipping them with insight, strength, and a clearer sense of who they are becoming.
