Erin recently had the opportunity to complete a week of work experience with Victoria Police, gaining valuable insight into a range of roles within the force. Throughout the week at Ararat Police Station, she took part in various tasks, including helping the highway patrol with vehicle checks, learning about police administration, observing firearm and taser training, and even learning about crime scene investigations. She also spent time in the Magistrates court, witnessing real cases being presented and verdicts being made.
When asked if the experience influenced her career decision, Erin said, “Yes, it has helped me decide whether I want to pursue a career in the police force, and especially different areas that I’d like to specialise in. Being able to talk to so many different officers from different specialisations in the station was very interesting.”
This is the first time a St Martins student has been accepted into Victoria Police’s work experience program—well done, Erin!
