Yesterday, the St Martins Year 10 Knockout Cricket team headed to Blue Lake Sports Park to participate in round 1 of the competition.
The Saints boys, all coming from a mixture of cricketing backgrounds, worked hard to secure a spot in the State Carnival later this year! 🏏
The boys first game was against a handy Mount Gambier High, where they lost the toss and bowled first. Mount High’s opening batsman did well, lasting until the 17th and 18th overs. Cameron Taylor got 3 wickets and Mount finished with 103 runs. The Saints worked hard to chase down the total. Will Graetz was the top scorer with 52 and Billy Wiese was a close second, scoring 49, not out. Billy scored a 6 on the third ball of the 17th over to win the game 103-111.
The boys came up against Naracoorte High School in the second game. They bowled first and were quick to take wickets. Alex Laube, Sam Medhurst, and Will Graetz all took 2 wickets and Bryce Thornhill took 3. The boys bowled Naracoorte out for 39 in the 14th over. Will Graetz topped the batting again with 26 not out and Will Boston and Billy Wiese were handy contributors. The Saints won by the end of the 8th over, 39 – 43.
Some great examples of sportsmanship – well done to all!
