On Thursday March 6 , the St Martins Year 9 & 10 Agriculture students visited The Union Dairy Company (UDC) in Penola. The aim of the excursion was to inspect the processes from “Grass to Glass”, and the impact innovation has in these processes. After a briefing on arrival of the history of the UDC, its purpose and connected corporations, the students were kitted up in their glamorous PPE and guided through a tour by employees in order to get a greater understanding of process, safety, maintenance, and quality control. At the end of the tour, the staff and students were treated with a Nippy’s Milk – one of the companies the UDC supplies. The Agriculture Staff and Students in attendance would like to thank the team at UDC for giving up their time to give such an in-depth and insightful tour. It is terrific for the students to see the breadth of employment opportunities at local businesses within the Agriculture sector.
