As part of Awareness Day students learn about natural disasters and refugees through a range of activities and experiences.
We were fortunate to have Celia Fielke, from Australian Lutheran World Service, join the classes to give the students a greater understanding of the lives refugees live.
Students were not able to enjoy their regular recess and lunch items, instead they were given a biscuit for recess and a small portion of rice for lunch. This demonstrated to the class the rations that a refugee lives on each day. After lunch students worked in pairs to carry 3L water bottles around the College whilst completing a scavenger hunt.
