On the March 28, an enthusiastic group of students participated in an all day workshop at school. The workshop was organised to prepare students for entry into the first heat of the annual, national Rostrum Voice of Youth competition which takes place in Mount Gambier on the 10th May. Students spent the day discussing a range of topics and possible interpretations. They played a few games to warm up, planned speeches and listened to their peers’ ideas before providing feedback. While the competition is one that focuses on individual skill, the workshop participants enjoyed helping each other generate ideas. After devouring lunch made by Ms Palombo’s Food Tech class, students spent the afternoon “thinking on their feet”, creating short notice speeches about a variety of prompts. We look forward to hearing how they fare at the competition in Term 2!
