St Martins Lutheran College is bringing Dr. Seuss’ much-loved characters to life in, Seussical the Musical, at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre.

With comedic input from Monty Python’s Eric Idle, this family-friendly show mixes music with contemporary re-imagining of beloved children’s stories including, Horton Hears a Who, Green Eggs and Ham and the unstoppable, Cat in the Hat.

Seussical is filled with big peppy numbers as well as touching ballads that remind us of the importance of courage, friendship and the power of being unique.

The musical will be performed by students from Years 7 to 12 and features Emily Williams as the Cat, Ainsley Gillings as Jojo, Rachael Bird as Horton the Elephant and Alyssa Leggett as Mayzie la Bird.

Drama teacher, Andy Ahrens, who directed the South Australian premiere of Seussical back in 2006, says, “Dr. Seuss’ imaginative verse and poetry effortlessly transitions from page to stage. More than just a play for children, this is a chance for adults to toe-tap their way back to their childhood memories.”
