On the 8th and 9th of April a group of Year 9 girls attended a Maths program held in Adelaide. The Year 9’s had the opportunity to hear from women who have made significant contributions to medical, environmental and engineering fields using their skills in mathematics. Some of these women were consultants working on a variety of projects, some worked at Universities, DST Group, and the CSIRO to name a few while others were completing PhDs. The purpose was to encourage more girls to study maths at SACE level, particularly specialist maths, and to be inspired with where maths could take them in their future careers. Along with seminars there were hands on workshops and problem solving tasks. While in Adelaide the group enjoyed a trip to the Adventure Room. The following girls were involved: Bethany Coscarelli, Keeley McGregor, Molly Wild, Isabelle Quintel, Shreya Ramah, Abbey Freebairn and Alexis Lenehan.
